Dort steht, dass er eigentlich schon immer auf und mit allem rhythmisch spielte, was ihm nicht entfliehen konnte. Als er 1999 zum ersten mal mit der Bodhran in Berührung kam, interessierte sie ihn nicht sonderlich, aber ein halbes Jahr später verfiel er dieser Rahmentrommel.. Er spielte bei den West-Cork-Boys und in einer Mittelaltergruppe... und halt bei Rimead wie oben schon erwähnt...

M: Marcin Oracki but everyone calls me Padre ;-) (Marcin Oracki aber jeder nennt mich "Padre")

M: I've started playing at the beginning of year 2000, my first bodhran arrived to me on May 26th that year

BO: What kind of bodhrán do you play? Na jakim grasz bodhranie (marka i model)? (Was für eine Bodhrán spielst Du?)
M: At the moment I'm playing on a special design bodhran (17" across, 6.5" deep) by Kevin O'Connell, great bass sound. I use several kinds of tippers. First has assimetricall knobs, one tear shaped and second ball shaped, another one is made out of fiddle bow, two kinds of hotrod tippers (one made of wooden sticks, and second made of plastic), and few kind of brushes.
(Im Moment spiele ich ein spezielles Modell von Kevin O'Connell, (der auch Bodhranmaker genannt wird Anm. Thorralf). Die hat einen schönen Bassklang. Ich benutze verschiedenste Schlägel. Zuerst einen asymetrischen Tipper - eine Seite ballförmig und die andere eher tropfenförmig, dann einen Schlägel, der aus einem Fiddlebogen gefertigt wurde, zwei Hotrods - einen aus Holzspießen einen aus Plastik und ein paar wenige Brushes)
BO: Do you play other instruments? Czy grasz jeszcze na jakis innych instrumentach? (Spielst Du noch andere Instrumente?)
M: Darabuka, spoons, drumla/jews harp and lots of different drums ;-) (Darabuka, Löffel, Maultrommel und viele andere Trommeln)
BO: How did it come you started playing the bodhrán and is there a story behind it? Jak to sie stalo, ze zaczales grac na bodhranie? Czy kryje sie za tym jakas opowiesc? (Wie bist du zur Bodhran gekommen? Gibt es eine Geschichte?)
M: Well, back in 1999 I was dancing in a small group here in Warsaw, and that wasn't quite what I wanted to do. When I was in high school I used to play percussion, and always pitter patter anything I could get. That year I was introduced to the bodhran by my friend from Gdansk (few years ago he moved to England), I didn't pay much attention to that drum, that was on one of re-enactment meetings and I had injured thumb, so I could play. Half a year later we've met on a re-enactment New Year's Eve party, he had his bodhran then. Once again he showed me how to play it. And that was it. I couldn't think of anything else but bodhran. I've started to practice with a stick on books, and all I could get in a grasp of my hands. Then I've started to make tippers, and before I had my first bodhran I had 20 different tippers ;-) I've receive two bodhran tutors, first by Tommy Hayes, second by Steaphen Hannigan. In May 2000 my first bodhran came to me by mail, it was made by Malachy Kearns. In August me and my girlfriend went to Dowspuda, Celtic festival in north-east of Poland. There I've decided to organise some musicians and have a band, as a result few months later we've started to play with Rimead.
(Im Jahre 1999 tanzte ich in einer kleinen Formation in Warschau, aber das war nicht das, was ich machen wollte. In der Schule spielte ich Perkussion und traktierte alles, was mir unter die Finger kam. In diesem Jahr brachte mir ein Freund aus Danzig die Bodhran näher (er lebt jetzt in England). Das war auf einem Mittelalterevent - Ich schenkte dem Instrument erst mal keine Beachtung, da ich auch noch am Daumen verletzt war und nicht spielen konnte. Dann trafen wir uns wieder auf einer Mittelalter-Sylvesterparty und er hatte das Ding wieder dabei und dort zeigte er mir, wie die Bodhran gespielt wird.. Das war's dann - Ich konnte an nichts anderes als an Bodhran denken. Ich begann auf Büchern und allem was sich nicht wehrte herumzukloppen und ich begann Tipper herzustellen. Bevor ich die erste Bodhran besaß, hatte ich schon über 20 Tipper. Ich bekam zwei Bodhrantutoren, einen von Tommy Hayes und den anderen von Steafan Hannigan. Im August fuhren meine Freundin und ich nach Dowspuda zu einem keltischen Festival im Nordosten Polens. Dort entschloß ich mich ein paar Musiker zu organisieren und als Ergebnis spielte ich wenig später bei Rimead...)
BO: What is your favourite music or has influenced you the most? Jaka muzyke lubisz najbardziej i co i kto mial na ciebie najwiekszy wplyw? (Was ist deine bevorzugte Musikrichtung? Was hat Einfluss auf deine musikalische Entwicklung gehabt?)
M: I'm listening to a lots of different kinds of music, as well as to Celtic I like to listen to Ska or Ska-jazz and heavy metal as a Into the Cauldron - album by Mike Marshall and Chris Thile - two briliant mandolin players. When I'm listening to Irish music I prefer Ceol Nua bands. My favourite 'Celtic" and new acoustic bands are:
and there goes names of 20 other bands playing music from Ireland, Scotland, Brettany, Asturia and U.S.A.;-) and that would be to boring to writte them all.
There were influence periods in my bodhran playing, in every period I was under influence of different bodhran players.
At the beginnig there was Ronan O'Snodaigh from Kila - for his innovative style of playing, then John Joe Kelly from Flook - as first bodhran player I've heard playing top-end style, Donal Lunny with his bass bodhran, at the moment I'm listening to Johny Ringo McDonagh (recodings with Arcady) - I think that it's brilliant what he does with his bodhran, Frank Torpey - I'm amazed by his triplets and rolls. I'm impresed by Mel Mercier and Robbie Harris' style of playing.
(Ich höre sehr viele verschiedene Musikrichtungen... neben keltischem Folk, höre ich auch Ska, Ska Jazz und Heavy Metal, Into the Cauldron Album von Mike Marshall und Chris Thile - zwei brilianten Mandolinenspielern. Wenn ich irische Musik höre, dann bevorzuge ich Ceoil Nua-Bands. Meine Lieblingskelten und Akustikbands sind:

Es gab sogenannte Perioden der Beeinflussung meines Spiels und immer war es ein anderer Bodhranspieler, der mich inspirierte.Am Anfang war es Ronan O'Snodaigh von Kila - durch seine innovative Art zu spielen, dann John Joe Kelly von Flook - der erste Spieler, den ich Top-End spielen hörte, Donal Lunny mit seiner Bass-Bodhran, im Moment höre ich viel Johny Ringo McDonagh (Aufnahmen mit Arcady) - Ich finde es brilliant, was er mit seiner Bodhran anstellt, Frank Torpey - Ich beeindruckt von dessen Triolen und Rollern. Beeindruckt bin ich auch von Mel Merciers und Robbie Harris' Spieltechnik.)

M: Playing on bodhran is difficult. It takes lot of work to use this drum well. But if you love it have fun with it ;-)
(Bodhranspielen ist schwer. Es braucht viel Arbeit, um die Trommel gut spielen zu können, aber wenn du es liebst, dann habe auch viel Freude (Spaß) damit)
